Week 33: Dad's Guide
Third Trimester • Baby is the size of a a large pizza box
👶 Baby Update
Size: A large pizza box
Baby's immune system is getting a boost from antibodies crossing the placenta. Pupils can constrict and dilate. Baby's bones are hardening everywhere except the skull — it needs to be flexible for birth.
💕 What She's Going Through
Overheating easily. Difficulty finding any comfortable position. Shortness of breath worsening. She may feel baby hiccup (rhythmic, repeated movement). Anxiety about labor increasing.
💪 What You Should Do This Week
- ✓Review and finalize the birth plan together — print 3 copies for the hospital
- ✓Talk about labor fears openly — hers AND yours
- ✓Set up the bassinet or crib in the bedroom for the first few months
🚫 Don't Say This
“What are you so worried about? Women have done this forever.”
Labor anxiety is normal and valid. Dismissing it doesn't help. Listen, validate, support.
🧠 Dad Hack
Have a 'what if' conversation: What if we need a C-section? What if the birth plan goes sideways? Being prepared for anything reduces panic.
