Second Trimester • Baby is the size of a a hammer
👶 Baby Update
Size: A hammer
HALFWAY THERE! The anatomy scan this week checks all major organs, brain, spine, heart chambers, kidneys, and more. Baby is about 10 inches long and 10 ounces. If finding out sex, this is usually when.
💕 What She's Going Through
Belly button may start to pop out. Shortness of breath as uterus pushes up. Swelling in feet and ankles may begin. She may feel beautiful or huge — sometimes both in the same hour.
💪 What You Should Do This Week
- ✓BE AT THE ANATOMY SCAN. This is the most detailed ultrasound — they check everything
- ✓If finding out the sex, plan how to share (or keep) the news
- ✓Celebrate the halfway point — do something special together
🚫 Don't Say This
“Are you sure there's only one in there?”
Never, ever comment on the size of a pregnant woman. Ever. Just don't.
🛒 Gear Tip
If you now know the sex, you can start buying! But most gear is gender-neutral anyway. Focus on the essentials.
🧠 Dad Hack
Ask for extra ultrasound printouts — you'll want them for the baby book. Some offices offer 3D/4D images too.
